Access Statement for Eastmere House Bed and Breakfast

Introduction

We welcome all visitors and try to cater for all their needs, in our home based 2-bedroom bed and breakfast. The following is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions or special needs please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail.

Pre-Arrival

· Barnham railway station is 2 miles away, Arundel 6 miles and Chichester 7.5 miles.

· Gatwick airport is 45 miles away, Heathrow 65 miles away

· There is a local taxi service outside Barnham station. If required, we can book taxis for you.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

· On arrival to the property there is a nameplate hanging on a gallows post at the north side of the road.

· There is an open double entrance to the gravelled drive

· The surface is level, flat and gravel, no marked parking bays but there is ample room for several cars

· The nameplate and front of the house are lit at night

· Walberton and Eastergate villages are a few minutes drive from the Bed and Breakfast

· We welcome you with tea or coffee when you arrive

· An information folder is available in your room and a box of local attraction leaflets in the lounge

Main Entrance & Reception

· The front door has one step 20cm high. We have a moveable ramp (if requested it will be available upon arrival).

· The front door is 81cm wide and is Yale locked. The bell and doorknocker are under cover in the porch.

· On entry into our home there is a hallway 1.8 by 3.2 metres to the reception desk

· There is a seat provided in the hallway and an emergency telephone is available on request

· The entrance hall has a coir entrance mat then fitted short pile carpet

· The door to the right to the ground floor twin bedroom is 76cm wide, it swings both ways and can be latched back

TV Lounge and Dining Room

· The TV lounge and dining room are on the ground floor.

· The lounge has a two seat settee and two massage recliner easy chairs

· A larger screen TV, DVD and Video is available in the lounge

· Breakfast is served in the dining room.

· There is a 13cm step to the dining area, for which a ramp can be available, breakfast can be served in the lounge if the step to the dining area is a problem

· Furniture can be moved on request.

· The table has under clearance of 74cm at the end. A carver chair with arms is available.

Laundry

· An iron and ironing board are available on request

· Drying facilities for wet clothing is available on request

Shops/Church

· The nearest shop is a mini-market a mile away in Eastergate village. Turn right from our entrance – just wheelchair accessible, very limited parking close by

· There are local shops in Walberton village. Turn left from our entrance – Good wheelchair access and parking here.

· There are two churches one in Eastergate village; parking is difficult; access is via a farm yard. The other in Walberton has good parking with a wheelchair accessible walk of between 100-200 metres to the entrance.

Leisure Facilities

· Books, several board games and playing cards are available in the lounge

· A limited selection of DVD’s is available upon request for a contribution to Leukaemia Research charity.

Outdoor Facilities

· There are several good local walks and information is available with details of short walks on level ground

· The gardens are available for guests to sit in (garden chairs and table available). This is an area for smoking

· Access to the rear garden is via two 14cm steps

Bedrooms

· There is a twin bedroom on the ground floor with private facilities.

· The corridor to the twin bedroom is 86cm wide and is well lit

· There is a double en-suite bedroom on the first floor en-suite

· There is an 880 cm wide staircase to the double bedroom on the first floor

· Door widths (all bedrooms and bathroom) are 74cm wide

· Beds are 60cm high but can be raised with blocks on request

· Remote control flat screen Television with free view and integral DVD in each room

· A kettle with tea and coffee making facilities in each room

· Refrigerator in each room with cold drinking water and milk. This may also be used for guests’ medication and food/drinks.

· There are a hair dryer and a clock/radio alarm in each room

· Two upright chairs (no arms) are provided in each room

· Fitted short pile carpet on the floor

Private Bathroom, Shower-room & WC

· Door width 74cm, inward opening, with coat hook on the back

· Free floor space clear of door is 1m x 1m

· The large shower cubicle (120cmx90cm) has a step/edge of 19cm high. There is a horizontal grab rail to the right of the shower rail

· The bath edge is 52cm high

· The basin is in a vanity unit. It is 81cm high

· The oval spar bath has a shower attachment and a dropped edge for easy entry. There is a seating area within the far side of the bath.

· The toilet has right side transfer with available free space of 64cm. The toilet is 46cm high

· There is a diagonal grab rail to the right of the WC

· Good colour contrast of pale tiled floor, dark tiled walls, gold fittings and fixtures

En-suite Bathroom & WC

· Door width 74cm, sliding opening

· Free floor space clear of door is 1m x 1m

· The ceiling is sloping

· The bath edge is 56cm high

· The bath has a shower attachment and a folding shower screen.

· The hand basin is 81cm high.

· The toilet has free space of 64cm. The toilet is 46cm high

· Good contrast of pale wood laminate floor, green carpet plinth, white tiled and pale green walls

Additional Information

· Assistance dogs are accepted. No other pets

· Mobile phone reception is generally good

· WIFI Internet service available on request

· Evacuation is via the main entrance or via reception patio doors; the fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If evacuating assistance is required please inform us on arrival and we will ensure safe evacuation e.g. hearing impairment.

· We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment (please let us know if ordered - telephone number below for hirers)

· The house is a smoking free building (smoking is allowed in the front and rear gardens)

· A sun lounge is available to relax in if a an excursion out is not viable
